When planning for your next photo session, here's a wardrobe tip to keep in mind. When deciding on what to wear, first think about where you are going to display your finished photos. Will you be having a large print made for above your sofa? Or will these prints be made into a collage for your entryway? Perhaps a few will go in your child's bedroom? If you're going to display them in your home, think about your decor and choose clothing that matches or coordinates. I'm not saying you have to find a dress that is a perfect match to your sofa, but having a complementary color scheme will add to the beauty of your wall art.

Minnesota Heart Gallery {Minneapolis Youth Photography}
I had my first session as a volunteer photographer for the Minnesota Heart Gallery today. It was a great experience and I am looking forward to doing more! For privacy reasons, I can't share any photos with you here, but if you're interested, check out their website.
As their website says, "Heart Gallery is a photographic exhibit featuring portraits of youth that share one need: to become part of a permanent and committed family. There are hundreds of youth in Minnesota who will leave foster care with nowhere to call home. Minnesota Heart Gallery provides a safe and dignified way to introduce these youth and their stories to prospective families and to remind us all of the promise and hope of finding a place to call home."
It was a beautiful day to be outside, and I wish all the best to the delightful young man I photographed today!

Grad Party Guestbook {Featured Product | Minneapolis High School Senior Photography}
I recently put together this amazing guest book for Jenna, who is graduating from high school this spring. The book features photos from her senior photo session and also has lots of spaces for guests to sign at her graduation party. The pages have spaces for guests to share memories and also areas with fun questions to answer about Jenna. One of my favorite features are the lay-flat pages, which are specially crafted so the book lays perfectly flat when opened, making it super easy to page through and to sign. I can't wait to hear how it turns out at her party!

Fresh from God, It's a Girl! {Newborn Baby Girl} | Eagan Newborn Photographer
Caroline's Facebook announcement said it beautifully: "Fresh from God, It's a Girl!" Baby Natalie Rose had arrived, just one day after her due date. (and one day before my birthday, I might add!) Here is a little video I made from some photos from her newborn photo shoot. Enjoy!

iPhoneography with PowerCam
Over the past few years, I have become pretty attached to my iPhone. I carry it everywhere, have a special pocket for it in my purse…it even sleeps next to my bed. And being a photographer, one of the things I love about it are all the fun camera apps that are available. Now to all you potential clients out there - don't worry, I won't be shooting your next session on my iPhone! But for everyday photos on the fly, it is pretty handy.
A few of my favorite apps which you may have heard of are Instagram, Camera+, Hipstamatic and Pro HDR.
I recently stumbled upon another one called PowerCam which has basic camera functions such as grid, zoom, and self-timer and also has a ton of cool fliters. These filters show up in real time, so as you're composing your photo, you see exactly what it will look like.
To show you just a few of the fun effects, I have taken some shots of a wonderful subject - my Seinfeld Trivia game. I love how easy it is to change the look of your photos by simply applying a different filter. Another cool feature is that these effects can also be applied to videos. I hope you enjoy PowerCam as much as I do! Download it here for free on iTunes.
