Fall Mini Sessions - Elm Creek Park, Maple Grove, MN

A few photos from my first family at last weekend's mini sessions at Elm Creek Park. At least one pretty tree had saved some leaves for us and we had beautiful afternoon light. Elliot and Mara were prepared with plenty of silly antics to keep me on my toes! I love the last shot where Mara is pretending to be a kitty. :) Enjoy!

Glamour Shots -- for buildings!

I did some photography work recently for a Maple Grove property that is up for a development award.  I love how the look of the building changed so dramatically from daylight to twilight. The twilight blue sky and glowing signs add a little drama and flair -- just what the building needed for its "glamour shot"!

Miss Mila { 6 Month Baby Photos - Plymouth, MN }

I had the opportunity to photograph this adorable girl as as newborn and a 3-month-old and was super excited to be able to take her 6 month portraits as well. It's amazing how much she's changed in just three short months. She’s sitting on her own now, and looks like she'll be crawling very soon. Her mom always has the cutest outfits along - here are a few of my favorites from our recent session at Parker's Lake Park.

Great Locations for Photo Sessions | Thomas Lowry Park, Minneapolis, MN

Photobucket
I was introduced to this beautiful park last week at a family photo session. Thomas Lowry Park is located in Uptown Minneapolis just blocks from the Walker Art Center. It's a small neighborhood park but has so many pretty backdrops and great variety in a small area. It's perfect for a family with small children or anyone who might not want to do a lot of walking during their session.

Features of the park:
  • lots of trees and flowers
  • open grassy areas
  • a beautiful vine-covered brick arbor
  • stone paths
  • benches
  • a pretty stream running through the park
  • plenty of nearby parking, and everything is within a small area

Here are a couple pictures of the park. Stay tuned for more from last week's session with Elsie and her family!

Sweet Caroline is Six! {Minneapolis Children's Photographer - Birthday Photos}

It was such a treat to photograph sweet Caroline on the morning of her 6th birthday. Her mom and I collaborated before the session to surprise Caroline with six balloons in her favorite color. And we got some great mother-daughter shots too that are my very favorites. Enjoy!

Back to School Photo Idea {Minneapolis St. Paul Children's Photography}

For many, tomorrow is the first day of school!  New shoes, new clothes, new friends and a wonderful opportunity to document the change and growth of your kids!  Whether your little one is entering kindergarten or 9th grade, the first day of school is a great time to take a special picture to celebrate the occasion.
A few months ago I shared with you my photos from my daughter's first and last day of kindergarten. This year, as she enters 1st grade, I'm planning on taking photos on the first day and last day of school again.  I've also added a little something extra to document her fun personality and remember some of her favorite things right now.  I came up with a list of 20 questions to ask her and then added some of her answers to the photo.
This is something that could be done every year at the start of school, or every year on your child's birthday.  It will be fun to see how these answers change from year to year!

Lyndale Park Maternity Session {Minneapolis Maternity Photography}

What a super sweet couple I met up with at the Lyndale Park Peace Gardens for their maternity session. They are due to welcome their first baby very soon and we were able to capture some maternity portraits of this amazing time. I love the bond between these two - you can just feel their love and anticipation! And doesn't this mom-to-be have the cutest baby bump??

Underwater Video {Minneapolis Children's Photography}

It's been a hot and humid week in Minnesota and we've been doing lots of swimming to stay cool.  It was the perfect opportunity to try out my new underwater camera and take a few videos of my daughter showing off her underwater swimming.  So far I've just been using the camera for fun, but am brainstorming ways I could use it in photography session... If you have any ideas, let me know!

Charlie {Pet Photography, Minneapolis, MN}

I photographed this cute pampered pooch last week. Charlie is 3 years old and loves to sit outside, have his belly scratched, and eat home cooked meals. Life is good for little Charlie!

Last Day of School Photo Idea {Photo Shoot Ideas, Minneapolis, MN}

My sweet girl has her last day of Kindergarten tomorrow and I wanted to take a few photos to remember the special day. I came across this idea on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. (For all the pinning I do on Pinterest, this is the first time I've actually tried one of the ideas!) First I pulled up a photo I'd taken last September on the first day of school and had Megan dress in the same outfit. It still fit, but the sleeves were noticeably shorter! Then I a snapped a photo of her holding an empty picture frame. Finally, in Photoshop I cropped the photo from the first day of school and edited it into the inside of the frame. Voila!
